Dame Catherine Harpur’s School is on Rose Lane, Ticknall and is a flourishing rural school catering for children at foundation stage (3-5) key stage 1 (5-7) and key stage 2 (7-11). There is the facility for three class groups, each group not exceeding 15 children, with a maximum of eight children in the foundation stage class. The foundation stage has had excellent OFSTED reports.
This school environment is small enough for children to receive individual encouragement and support, yet large enough to provide them with social and intellectual stimulation and a rich variety of experiences.
The school is set in a delightful location, bordering open countryside on the outskirts of the village. Inside there are three classrooms with additional cloakrooms, and a general library and meeting area.
Outside is a spacious playground which has been marked out with a variety of games areas designed by the children. In addition there is a large garden containing a wildlife pond, a small organic vegetable plot, an activity area, dens and quiet areas.
Nearby is a large playing field and the beautiful and historic rural villages of Ticknall and Calke, a great place in which to grow up and learn.
